A camera doesn’t just record a scene, it captures the emotion of a single moment in time.
About Fen Dweller Photography
My name is Al Bunyan, and I’m a fully qualified pet photographer with a lifelong passion for animals and the outdoors. Photography brings together two of the things I love most: capturing the character, connection of our companions and celebrating the beauty of natural landscapes.
My background as an experienced animal trainer and behaviour specialist gives me a unique understanding of the animals I photograph. I hold a BSc in Applied Canine Behaviour and Training, along with national certificates in Animal Psychology, Companion Animal Welfare and Behavioural Rehabilitation, and Advanced Instructing Techniques for the Companion Dog.
My work with dogs began in the 1980s in the British Army, and since then animals have been at the heart of my professional life. In 1995, I helped establish the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and later became its first assessor in Scotland. Over the years, I have presented internationally on dog behaviour and training, sharing practical expertise in humane handling and capture techniques of street dogs in several different countries including Bosnia, Portugal, Romania, Thailand, Bali and Africa. I have also competed at the highest level in Working Trials with several dogs, and at home I share my life with two adopted dogs.
As a Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Clicker Academy, I take a calm, patient and reward-based approach to every session. Whether I’m photographing a lively young dog, a thoughtful senior companion or a once-in-a-lifetime outdoor adventure, my aim is always to create natural images that reflect each animal’s true personality.
